The Lagos State Government has shut three unlicensed private schools. The state Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Olayinka Oladunjoye, made this known in a statement on Thursday.
In the statement signed by the ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Mr. Jide Lawal, the commissioner said the schools contravened the guidelines on the establishment and operation of private schools in the state.
The affected schools are Honesty Private School in Surulere; Heibenah Montessori, Ijeshatedo, Surulere and the Elyon Ambassador Private School, Oshodi.
The schools, the commissioner added, were operating in residential/converted structures. Besides, she noted that their owners could not provide required records upon demands from officials of the ministry.
Oladunjoye pointed out that Honesty Private School had visible large cracks on its walls just as its owner used a container as a classroom.
