Lagos government flags off 2020 graduate internship program

The Lagos State government has flagged off the graduate internship placement program  (LASGIPP), in a ceremony held in Ikeja the state capital, on Tuesday 29 December 2020.

The state governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the commissioner for wealth creation and employment, Mrs. Yetunde Arobieke, called on the graduates to prove their worth at their various places of internship, and aim for a higher goal of being financially independent.

Mrs. Yetunde advised the interns not to be contented with the monthly N40,000 stipend given by the State Government but to work towards financial independence. She also pleaded with the interns to make the state government proud in their respective organizations by being assets and not liabilities to their employers.

The commissioner revealed that the internship program was introduced as a way of finding a sustainable solution to the issue of unemployment, necessitating the implementation of the internship programme as a collaboration with the organized private sector in order to create employment for qualified graduates.
