Kwara State Sets to Invest Over N14Billion in Basic Education

The Kwara State Government says it is prepared to strengthen the state’s basic education sector with over 14billion naira. This is coming after a recent grant of N7.1billion was given to the state by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC).

The Commissioner for Finance and Planning, Olasumbo Florence Oyeyemi made this known through a statement issued by the Commissioner for Communications, Harriet Afolabi-Oshatimehin. According to the Finance Commissioner, the state will be investing at least N14,301,843,568.18 to revive the education sector.

Oyeyemi remarked that the investment was needed to ascertain a bright future for education in the state. She said the decision will be forwarded to the House of Assembly for consent and inclusion into the supplementary budget.
