Kwara Poly SUG update on increment of school fees and miscellaneous charges

In response to the recent concerns over the sharp increment in school fees and miscellaneous charges, the Students' Union Government (SUG) has actively engaged the Polytechnic management to address this issue. Our primary focus throughout these engagements has been to advocate for the welfare and financial ease of our fellow students.

We are pleased to announce the fruitful outcome of these efforts. As a responsive union, we fully understand the frustration and financial burden caused by the unexpected rise in fees, particularly in light of the challenging economic climate in our nation.

In swift response, the SUG initiated dialogue with the Polytechnic's management and relevant government officials to ensure that the voices of the students were heard and that the 100% fee increment was reconsidered. After several productive meetings, we are delighted to inform you that

we have successfully negotiated significant reductions, as follows:

* A 65% reduction in the proposed fees for returning students.

* A 60% reduction in the proposed fees for freshers.

Additionally, several proposed miscellaneous fees have either been removed completely or

significantly reduced, while others have reverted to their previous rates. We also have firm assurances from the management that no hidden charges will be introduced moving forward.

We encourage all students to explore the Federal Government's Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) as a viable financial option to support their education. This loan offers students access to low-interest funds to cover tuition fees and living expenses, providing much-needed relief during these times.

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Dr. (Mrs.) Mary Arinde, for her swift intervention, and to the Polytechnic management for their openness and colaboration throughout this process. We also thank you, our esteemed colleagues, for your patience, understanding, and support as we worked through these challenges.

Rest assured, we remain committed to safeguarding your interests and will continue to promote the unity and strength that bind us as a student body.

Thank You!
