UNILORIN SUG update on transportation challenges

UNILORIN SUG update on transportation challenges

In  the coming days, we're aware of potential transportation challenges due to the fuel price hike and reduced shuttle bus services. To address these concerns, we've secured the following initiatives:

- Effective Hybrid lecture system to reduce costs of transportation

- Subsidized Medical Checkups for our bus drivers

- Rehabilitation of University roads to ensure a safer commute

- Inspection of vehicles plying the University roads to ensure their roadworthiness, and

- Constitution of SU transportation volunteers to ensure a well-organized transportation system.

Despite reports of korope fare increases to ₦400, please note that the agreed-upon fare remains ₦300.

As the Students' Union, we want to clarify that there has been a series of meetings with the Korope Union, but there’s no agreement at the time of filling this publication.

We’re aware that the Korope Shuttle Buses have temporarily suspended services on the University route, the Students’ Union has arranged Marco-polo Buses as alternative transportation to convey our colleagues (to and fro) campus.

We strongly advise our colleagues not to exceed the agreed fare when dealing with korope drivers, as we pledge to initiate productive meetings with the Korope Union to prioritize your interests. Further updates will be communicated promptly.

Your cooperation in this matter is greatly appreciated as we strive to ensure fair and accessible transportation for all members of our university community.
