Kogi State University (KSU) Postgraduate Admission Requirements For All PG Courses

Kogi State University Ayingba is  well know for their postgraduate programmes, usually before candidates opt for any PG Programme, they first confirm if their proposed PG course is offered in the university of their choice and when that is done, they check their admission requirements for that course because various postgraduate programmes come with their unique entry admission requirements.

After completing the above 2 steps, some go ahead to check out the postgraduate tuition fee. This is done to confirm its affordability because it is not enough to gain admission, you must be able to sustain your stay while at school especially if you are running a part time or full time programme.

Today we will be discussing the admission requirements into Kogi state university – KSU Postgraduate school for both full time and part time students.

The admission requirements will go in this format;

A) General Eligibility Requirements for all Postgraduate Studies at Kogi State University, Anyigba

B) KSU PG Admission Requirements for Ph.D Programmes

C) KSU PG Admission Requirements for Masters Degree Programmes

D) KSU PG Admission Requirements for PGD (Postgraduate Diploma) Programmes

A) GENERAL ELIGIBILITY/ REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE STUDIES
All applicants for Postgraduate admission must satisfy the ‘O’ Level first degree requirement of Kogi State University, Anyigba as follows:

i) Candidate must first possess 5 (five) ‘O’ Level credit passes at not more than two sittings in the relevant subjects, including English Language for ALL disciplines and Mathematics for ALL Science-based disciplines, including Economics, Geography and Management Sciences.

ii) He or she must hold a good honours degree from Kogi State University, Anyigba or any other recognized university, with a minimum of Second class lower degree.

B) KSU PG ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (Ph.D) PROGRAMMES
An applicant for admission to a Ph.D programme shall: be a graduate of Kogi State University or any other approved University who has obtained the degree of Master of Arts or Science  (MA/M.Sc) by research thesis (Not Report or Project)

i) Candidate must posses at least, 3.5 Cumulative Grade point Average on a 5 point scale or equivalent letter grade B in previous postgraduate core courses taken.

ii) For programmes in Natural Sciences: Posses a minimum of 4.0 Cumulative Grade point Average on a 5 point scale or equivalent letter grade B in previous postgraduate core courses taken.

DURATION FOR Ph.D PROGRAMMES AT KSU

The duration of study ranges from 6 (six) to 9 (nine) semesters for full-time candidates and up to ten semesters for part-time candidates.

C) KSU PG ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR MASTER OF ARTS/MASTER OF SCIENCE (ACADEMIC)
For Masters Degree Programmes (M.A/M.Sc), candidates are required to posses the following to be eligible to apply;

I) A first degree of Kogi State University or any other recognized University in the relevant field of not less than second class Honours Lower Division ( 2’2)

II) Must possess an HND certificate at credit level and PGD also at credit level in relevant fields. Note that, not all programmes admit through HND.

D) KSU PG ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA (PGD)
To qualify for admission into Postgraduate Diploma Programmes, candidate must:

i) First and foremost, be a holder of Third Class degree from Kogi State University or any other recognized University.

ii) Have a Higher National Diploma (HND) at credit level in related fields of study from a National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) recognized University/Polytechnic or any other Institution considered as equivalent.

IMPORTANT NOTE

  1. Kindly be informed that PGD in Christian Religious Studies is specifically designed for the benefit of candidates who had Third Class and above in Arts and Social Sciences subjects other than Christian Religious Studies and wish to take a career in Christian Studies at Masters or Ph.D level later in life.
  2. Candidates who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) need not apply.
  3. All applicants MUST provide transcripts of their previous academic work and three referee letters/forms to reach the Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies on or before the closing date of the period of application.
