Kidnapers abduct Bauchi principal, demand N50 million ransom

The principal of Government Day Secondary School, Lere, in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, identified as Iliyasu Suleiman, has cried out for help calling on the state government to do its bid to secure his rescue. Suleiman was abducted by unknown gunmen alongside the son of the Bauchi auditor general, who subsequently escaped.

According to reports, Suleiman was with the Auditor General of Bauchi State, Abdu-Usman Aliyu, the AG’s son, daughter, and two others, in Kardam, when the gunmen attacked their vehicle. They attempted to kidnap the auditor-general, but he resisted and was shot in the mouth, and left in a pool of blood thinking he was dead. His son and the principal were kidnapped while other occupants of the car fled.

In a viral audio clip circulating the news space, the distraught 50-year-old school administrator can be heard asking his wife to sell his house and other properties to raise the N50 million ransom demanded by his kidnappers.

The principal who has so far spent five days in the hands of his abductors, complained about being beaten and maltreated by the kidnappers, saying he might be killed before the necessary help comes.

He also asked his wife to meet his employer in the Ministry of Education to rescue him, and further appealed to Governor Bala Mohammed to rescue him from his abductors.
