The Kebbi State Government has sponsored 117 students under its scholarship program to three universities in India for various courses of study. The scholarship beneficiaries were selected by a team headed by the state Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Muktar Umar Bunza.
In a farewell dinner organized by the state government, the students were addressed by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, who charged them to be good ambassadors of the state and Nigeria while they get to their various universities.
The governor reinstated his administration's commitment to the education sector, saying that though it wasn't the first time the state will be sponsoring students abroad, it was, however, different this time around because, despite the economic challenges it was able to mobilize and send the students abroad.
