Kebbi State Government Proposes Reopening of Schools on September 21

As schools across the country prepare for a possible resumption of in-campus activities, the Kebbi State Government has commenced the distribution of sanitizers, face masks, and other COVID-19 preventive items to 2,008 schools in the State ahead of a proposed reopening of schools on September 21.

This was revealed by the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Schools Education, Alhaji Muhammad Magawata Aleiro, during the distribution of the items at the SUBEB office, Birnin Kebbi, on Wednesday.

The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education and Desk Officer of Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) Kebbi State, through the Director Quality Assurance  Alhaji Hassan Umar, said the agency had trained Schools Principals, Headmasters, and teachers on COVID-19 preventive guidelines to avoid either direct or indirect contracting of the virus in their schools.

The commissioner however maintained that the said reopening of schools still remains a suggestion until approved.
