Kebbi govt set to sponsor over 300 students on foreign scholarships

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof. Mukhtar Bunza, at the swearing-in and inauguration ceremony of new executive members of the National Union of Kebbi State Students (NUKESS), disclosed that the state government is set to sponsor over 300 students to India, Turkey, and Cyprus to study Medicine, Health Sciences, Paramedics and Engineering.

The commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Hajiya Halima Dikko, said the program which is a collaboration between the state government and some foreign institutions, shows the Gov. Bagudu led-administration priority on the education sector.

He expressed satisfaction with the remarkable achievements of the state under the present administration, where the School of Nursing and Midwifery and School of Health Technology were upgraded to the collegiate system.

He further revealed that the government had signed into law an edict that allowed the colleges to offer Higher National Diplomat (HND) certificates, adding that the Adamu Augie College of Education, Argungu, had been empowered to start degree programs in addition to its statutory NCE programs, as well as the University of Science and Technology, Aliero, which had received approval from the NUC to commence Bachelors of Science Degree in nursing and midwifery services.
