The Kano state government on Monday, Jan 24, announced the revocation of all operational licenses issued to private primary and secondary schools in the state, following the killing of 5-year-old Hanifa Abubakar by Abdulmalik Tanko, a proprietor of Noble Kids Academy, Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.
The state Commissioner of Education, Sunusi Sa’id Kiru who made the announcement, said the revoked licences will be reviewed and revalidated after a certification exercise to be supervised by a panel comprising of the Ministry of Justice, Department of State Service, (DSS), Civil Defense and other security agencies.
Recall that Hanifa was kidnapped and mutilated by the proprietor of her school despite collecting part payment of the ransom he had requested from her family.
