Kaduna state disengage 65 illegal teachers

The auditor of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Tandat Katuma, has confirmed the sack of 65 primary school teachers who were allegedly recruited illegally into the teaching profession in Kaduna State.

The teachers said to have been recruited illegally in the Sanga Local Government Area of the state, were sacked after an investigation committee found them culpable. The committee said they was a need for an investigation after it noticed a constant increase in the monthly wage bill of teachers without corresponding new employment.

The council Chairman, Mr. Charles Danladi, stated that 16 out of the 65 were among the primary school teachers that failed the competency test, but were illegally reappointed while the remaining 51 were illegally recruited during the first and second batches of the recruitment of 25,000 qualified teachers.

Danladi added that the SUBEB officials involved in the illegal recruitment exercise had been sanctioned.
