Just In: Abia state school shut down as explosive devices are found in classrooms

The Abia State Government has shut down Union Primary School, Afaraukwu, located in Umuahia North LGA of the state after “suspected explosive devices” were discovered in the school.

The state's commissioner for information, John Kalu said the explosive devices may be antique from the civil war era. He added that the state government is currently working with relevant security agencies in the state to unravel the source and nature of the suspected explosive devices found at the school.

Meanwhile, necessary measures have been taken to protect the pupils and staff of the school with security sweeps ongoing while the school is temporarily closed.
