John Ikechukwu Okafor, professionally known as known as Mr. Ibu, is a Nigerian actor and comedian. Okafor is considered to be one of Nigeria’s most talented comic characters in the Nigeria film industry. John Okafor’s Biography
Mr. Ibu (John Okafor) is a native of Nkanu West Local Govt, Enugu State, was born on Sunday, 17th October, 1971. After his primary education, in 1974, He moved to Sapele in Delta state to Live with his brother, after his father’s painful exit. In Sapele, he did menial jobs like selling of minerals selling of food Stuffs so he could sponsor himself to school and also support his immediate family.
Mr. Ibu worked as a hairstylist then, opted to work as a photographer which he did and also worked in a company that specialized in crate production. After his secondary education, he was admitted into the College of Education, Yola, but pulled out unfortunately due to insufficient funds to fend for himself. As time went on John later applied for the Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) as soon as he was financially able to fend for himself. The prolific actor has been gracing the screens of millions of Nigerians, and he has made his presence widely felt in the Nigeria film industry. Many thinks the veteran actor is uneducated due to how he behaves in movies but that’s just a fallacy.
During the Biafran war, John Okafor (Mr. Ibu) went to school, the sudden announcement of the war on January 15th 1966 came just a week after he had resumed school, but John saw all of these as fun due to the way it presented itself. In the same year, 1976 his dad and five members of his family were killed by poisoning. The person responsible for such act has been revealed on several occasions by Mr Ibu’s Father.
Marriage Controversy
Mr. Ibu’s ex-wife held captive, his immediate wife and son according to him, and were released 10 days later Immediately the required ransom was met. Sadly, his son died the following year in circumstances that weren’t just ordinary and looked very similar to John’s Father’s case when he died which was also the situation of food poisoning.
The seasoned actor surprisingly does not know how to cook. During the Biafra era, one of his brothers would cook the lizards that they frequently ate and of course now he does not really need to learn that particular skill.
Other skills that he does have however include hairdressing and styling. This was one of the odd jobs that he did to get by in his youth and he apparently got so good at it that his customers became so reliant on him that they would wait if they did not find him present at the salon. He even owned a hotel called ECOWAS, which he ran before his initial movies became best sellers.

The comic actor has been diagnosed of an illness that could have his leg cut off if an emergency treatment isn’t administered on him. On his IG page, Mr Ibu, also known as John Okafor was seen pleading for financial assistance from Nigerians. In his words on his hospital bed “
As I speak to you, I am still lying down in the hospital; the medical director of this hospital said that the best solution is that, in case his new idea didn’t work, the best idea is to cut off my leg.
“Just see me, if they cut off my leg, where do I go from here? Please pray for me, talk to God Almighty, and I don’t want my legs to be cut off. Thank you so much. God bless you.”
His daughter Jasmine could also be seen holding the accumulated bill, begged for help as she has been exhausted of all funds. She begged well meaningful Nigerians to come to the aid of her father as she does not want his leg cut off. Get well soon Mr Ibu.
