The Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, Umar Namadi has announced the sponsorship of 210 indigenes students of the state to study Medicine in Sudan.
Namadi who made the announcement during a visit by the president of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, Mustapha Isah, in Dutse, said the scholarship opportunity will help bridge existing gaps in the health workforce.
He said the students upon graduation, are expected to work in their various localities for a stipulated time, as the state government plans to deploy at least one medical doctor to each health facility in all the rural communities.
