Jigawa State Award N2.6bn Contract for Infrastructural Development in State-owned Varsity

The Jigawa government said on Wednesday that it had awarded contracts worth N2.6 billion for the execution of various projects in its newly established state-owned university.

The Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Babandi Ibrahim, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview at the end of the state Executive Council meeting in Dutse.

Ibrahim said that the contract included the construction of a block of five offices, hostels, and road network within the university campus.

He said that the state government had also awarded contract for equipping and furnishing of three laboratories in the institution at the cost of N344 million.

The commissioner said that contract had also been awarded for the procurement of 50 kilowatts transmitter for the AM belt of Jigawa Broadcasting Corporation at the cost of N365 million.

Ibrahim said the project was designed to boost the capacity of the station to transmit its signals within and outside the state.
