According to the board, out of the 1,586,765 candidates who expressed interest in taking the examination, only 80,166 remain outstanding. The examination body also revealed that three groups of candidates who missed their exams have been rescheduled for mop-up examinations. Those who were unable to take the 2023 UTME at their designated time through no fault of their own will be rescheduled to take the exam on Saturday, May 6, 2023. The board specified that these categories of candidates include those who were verified at their centers but were unable to take the exam, those who could not be biometrically verified, and those with inconsistent data.
The board emphasized that candidates who fall under these categories would be contacted via their registered phone numbers and email addresses. They are expected to print their revised examination slips from the board’s website and bring them to their respective examination centers.
In addition, the board reminded candidates who had previously written the examination and were yet to receive their results that they could check them on the board’s website or via the mobile application, using their registration number.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board also stated that it would continue to adhere to its policy of zero tolerance for examination malpractice and urged all candidates to avoid any form of misconduct during the examination.
The release of the UTME results and the subsequent mop-up examinations are expected to bring relief to many candidates who have been eagerly awaiting their results and those who missed their exams due to unforeseen circumstances.
The mop-up examinations will ensure that candidates who missed their scheduled exams due to reasons beyond their control will have another opportunity to take the exam. This is part of the board’s effort to ensure that all candidates are given a fair chance to excel and gain admission into tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
The release of the UTME results is also expected to kickstart the admission process for the 2023/2024 academic session. Tertiary institutions across the country will now be able to access the results of candidates who have chosen them as their first or second choice and begin their selection process.
