The joint Admission and Matriculation Board has disclosed that over 1.7 Million candidates has so far registered for the 2017 UTME which is expected to end today the May 5th. 2017.

According to the JAMB’s Head of Media, Dr Fabian Benjamin,  the number of registered candidates (1.7 million) is unprecedented as it has never been recorded in the history of JAMB since inception.

He however added that the board has put in place adequate facilities to accommodate the upsurge in the number of candidates.

He further explained that the board recorded 1.2 million in 2015 and 2016 UTME registration and was anticipating 1.5 in 2017 but achieved over 1.7 million registered candidates despite the fact that the registration period was reduced to one month. He said this shows the effectiveness of the new changes made by the board.

He equally mentioned that the board has put everything in place to ensure the success of the JAMB exam which comes up on May 13th, 2017. He stated that in 2016 , the board used 510 examination centres; this year the board will be making use of 633 centres to accommodate the number of registered candidates.

Speaking on the success of the just concluded mock examination, Dr Benjamin said the level of success recorded was so good that the board wished it was the main examination.
