JAMB 2024: JAMB Denies Increment In Registration Form Fee

The management of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) would like to address recent publications suggesting an increase in the examination registration fee, clarifying that this information is inaccurate. The cost of obtaining JAMB’s UTME application documents remains at N3,500, the same since its reduction from N5,000 in 2018. Despite prevailing economic challenges affecting operational costs, the Board asserts that there has been no increase in the price of application documents.

The Board emphasizes its commitment to preventing an undue burden on candidates and highlights efforts to keep costs low. As part of this strategy, the Use of English reading text is provided free of charge through a QR code, aiming to absorb production cost increases and ensure candidates’ financial relief. Candidates can access the reading text through various channels, including their profiles, email addresses, notification slips, and the Board’s website.

The perceived fee increment is attributed to the Board’s cashless policy, consolidating all fees payable by candidates to Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers. This consolidation includes the N700 registration fee, N1,500 examination fee, and N1,500 optional Mock-UTME fee at privately-owned centers. These fees are collected by the Board on behalf of CBT centers and remitted weekly.

Despite economic challenges, the Board resists calls from partnering and privately-owned centers for a significant service cost increase. The Board emphasizes that its services are not for profit. For clarification, the 2024 UTME/DE e-PIN remains N3,500. The registration fee of N700, meant for CBT centers, is now collected by the Board along with the N1,500 main UTME fee and the N1,500 optional Mock-UTME fee, all on behalf of the CBT centers.
