JAMB Candidates Warned Against Choosing Unauthorized Degree Courses In Specialized Universities

The Federal Government has directed all specialized universities (e.g universities of agriculture, universities of technologies, universities of medicine etc) offering courses that are not in line with their statutory mandates to stop offering such courses.

The government frowned at such a situation whereby a Universities of Agriculture that is supposed to offer only courses related to agriculture starts offering Law and management related courses.

This was contained in a statement released by the Head of Information, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Dr. Fabian Benjamin.

According to the statement, specialized universities are those universities that have been established to offer specific courses and grow the needed manpower in such areas which will help boost the economy.

He further stated that the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu has ordered the examination board to remove such courses offered by these specialized universities that are contrary to their statutory mandate from its list of recognized ones.

All prospective UTME candidates have been advised not to choose any of the blacklisted courses as they are no longer recognized by JAMB in such universities and will be removed from the JAMB Brochure.

The universities affected are Universities of Agriculture and Universities of Technology and other universities that are approved to offer courses in a specific field or discipline.

All candidates are therefore advised to ensure that the course they chose in an institution is truly offered by that institution. This can be confirmed via the current JAMB brochure.
