The Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof. ’Dibu Ojerinde, has announced the approval of five new academic programmes for the University of Agriculture, Makurdi.
He also announced board’s preparedness to commence the proposed Computer-Based Testing in 2013.
The approved courses are in the College of Management. They are B.Sc. Marketing and Co-operatives, Accounting, Banking and Finance, Business Management and Entrepreneurship.
According to the registrar, the development will increase the institution’s carrying capacity.
Ojerinde enjoined the university as an e-Examination centre to improve its ICT facilities to meet the required standard.
The news of the approval was contained in a statement in Abuja on Friday.
The statement quoted the registrar as having said this at the just-concluded meeting of the board and other stakeholders, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.
According to the statement, the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Daniel Uza, expressed joy for the honour done the university by the visit.
It read in part, “He said he appreciates the JAMB boss for the good working relationship between the board and the university in particular and Prof.’Dibu Ojerinde-led JAMB and the entire university system in Nigeria.
“As the alternate chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors, ‘there is overwhelming support for JAMB activities, describing JAMB under your leadership as being an excellent public institution.”
