Following the criticism and backlash the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB) has been receiving from parents and stakeholders as a result in the delay for the release of the 2020 UTME results, the Board revealed yesterday (Monday) that it is yet to release results of the 2020 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination but would do so within the week.
Dr. Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Head of Media and Publicity in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja maintained that the JAMB results would be officially released “anytime” within the week but not earlier than Wednesday 1st of May 2020.
This, he explained was because candidates would expect the results from the first two days of the week but might be disappointed as the board has yet to conclude the process of the exercise.
Benjamin said, “We will not release it today, Monday; and we will not release it tomorrow, Tuesday and since May 1st is a Federal Public holiday, Candidates should expect the results from Thursday 2nd of May 2020.
“What we said was anytime within this week. By implication, we are concluding the screening exercise this week and results can be released anytime within the week.”
Benjamin urged the public to fully comprehend media reports to avoid misconception as the board was committed to ensuring sanity in the system.
Benjamin, earlier (last week) said that the 2020 UTME results would be ready anytime from Monday, April 29, after a rigorous process.
He had noted that the board was still screening the results but hopefully, the results would be ready soonest.
The board had earlier stated that it would only release the 2020 UTME results after undergoing thorough screening to identify and apprehend examination cheats.
All candidates that participated in the 2020 UTME are enjoined to be a little patient as the UTME results will be released hopefully from Thursday in batches.
Best of luck to all candidates.
