JAMB Announces Categories Of Candidates Exempted From 2023/2024 Post UTME

After an lengthy meeting with stakeholders, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has revealed that some candidates will be exempted from writing the 2023/2024 post UTME.

The category of such which would be exempted are candidates who will be sitting or have already sat for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) outside Nigeria and serving their years in prisons are to be exempted from the post-UTME aptitude test for 2023/2024 academic session.

Another category of students to be exempted from post UTME 2023/2024 aptitude tests are visually impaired (blind) and candidates with difficulty in hearing (deaf).

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, made this public on Tuesday, the 26th of June 2018 at the 2018 Policy Meeting of the Board in Gbogan, Osun state, where the exemption of this category of candidates was approved.

He further added that the exemption of the list of exempted candidates would be treated by the institutions under affirmative and inclusive actions for their accommodation.

Prof. Ishaq Oloyede in his words put that: “The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has put in place a mechanism that would prevent any candidate from taking undue advantage of this exemption.

For instance, only candidates, who are either foreigners, or Nigerians, who are confirmed residents in foreign countries, and are products of foreign school system can enjoy this privilege in the interest of internationalization of the nation’s tertiary institutions.

“A Nigerian with less than six months stay in a foreign country is disallowed from taking his/her UTME in any foreign country.”

The above are the latest from JAMB as post UTME aptitude for universities, polytechnics and colleges of education in Nigeria draws closer.

Candidates who fall under this category are to please take note of this recent development.
