JAMB 2017 UTME Registration Will Start In 2 Weeks – JAMB Boss

The 2017 UTME Registration is expected to commence within the next 2 weeks. This was disclosed by the Registrar of the Joint Admission And Matriculation Board (JAMB), Prof. Is-haq Oloyede.

According to him, the examination has been scheduled to hold in May. This he said is to ensure that the examination does not clash with any of the  senior secondary examination. He equally added that it will help the board consider then interest of the students and curtail various aspects of malpractices especially in the area of upgrading of JAMB results.

He noted that in previous years the examination was usually held in March and the result made available in 2 to 3 days whereas the result will not be used by the candidates until around July or August. This he said has given room and enough time to various sharp practices.

Some even have the boldness to take it online claiming that they can help candidates upgrade their results thereby defrauding many.

He stated that bearing all these in mind, the board has decided to reduce the time period candidate between the release of the results and when they will actually be used by the candidates as this will deter any one dreaming of upgrading JAMB result.

On the issue of the estimated numver of candidates that will participate in 2017 UTME, the JAMB boss stated that the 1.7 million earlier announced was for last year. However the board does not expect less this year. As a matter of fact, the board expect at least 1.5 million candidates to participate in the 2017 UTME registration and about 200,000 and 300,000 in Direct Entry registration.

He further reiterated that the board will not promise a hitch free examination. However, the Board will ensure that any hitches that might arise will be adequately taken care of.

Concerning the issues of scraping of scratch cards, the JAMB boss stated that he is aware that many individuals make their living from the sales of scratch cards. However, that is not to be encouraged anymore as many of them have use it as an avenue to extort candidates by selling the scratch cards at exorbitant prizes
