JAMB, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, is a public monopoly responsible for the conduct of entrance exams into monotechnics, polytechnics and universities in Nigeria . This places JAMB in a very critical position in the nation’s educational sector. It is a famous Board. But sometimes, it picks up a badge of notoriety like most Nigerian public institutions.
Last year (2011), many candidates were stranded with writing materials as the board has promised to provide every writing material for the candidates registered on their platform. This year again, the fear grows!
Report reaching SchoolGist said that a lot of legally registered candidates were not given writing materials on the point of registration. This among other things places a question mark on the JAMB's initiative of registering cyber cafes, banks, etc. Why would JAMB not provide a registered centre with enough writing materials as there are enough registration scratch cards?
Well whatever must have been the case this year, we want to educate and guide all registered JAMBites who were not given writing materials. So if you fall under this category, this is what you have to do:
What to do if you don't have writing materials
1. Do not panic, lest you get discouraged!
2. Make available a well-sharpened pencil, non-programmable calculator, eraser, and other things. GO with them to your centre, should incase they failed to provide you with anyone.
3. Make sure you are not late to your centre, so as to know what's up.
4. Be keen, and smart.
With these steps, I believe you will make it. And remember to ask questions whenever you are discouraged!
All the best from The SchoolGist Team.
