IMSU VC pledge support for relocation of varsity

The Vice Chancellor of the Imo State University (IMSU) Professor Bathram E. B. Nwoke yesterday pledged support to abide by any directive from the Imo State Government on the said relocation of the institution.

Professor Bathram who spoke to the media in response to questions immediately after a meeting with the state government and school management said the school was built by the government and he would not interfere with plans on relocation of the university campus.

It was his considered opinion that neither the Vice Chancellor nor the management of the University has the constitutional right to disagree with the government, which he said owns the institution.

“The University was established through an Act of Parliament. Anywhere the Governor and the State House of Assembly decide to take the University to is where the Vice Chancellor will be”, Nwoke said.

IMSU had earlier this week embarked on an indefinite strike aimed at driving its demand home from the state government.
