Imo state renames Eastern Palm university to K. O Mbadiwe university

Consequent to an executive bill presented by the Imo State House of Assembly Deputy Majority Leader, Emeka Nduka, during plenary on Wednesday for the abolition of the establishment of Eastern Palm University (EPU), the State House of Assembly has okayed the conversion of the University into the K. O Mbadiwe University.

The Eastern Palm University (EPU), said to be owned by former governor Rochas Okorocha, has been a topic of contention with the Imo state executive council at its weekly meeting held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, declaring that the university is owned by the state. Catch up on the story here and here.

With the new bill given an accelerated hearing and passed into law, the Eastern Palm University (EPU), is now renamed as the K. O Mbadiwe University, becoming the second Imo State-owned University.
