Governor Olusegun Mimiko this evening announced the siting of a federal polytechnic in Ile Oluji, in Ile Oluji-Oke Igbo Local Government Area of Ondo State. Speaking today at the palace of the Jegun of Ile Oluji, Governor Mimiko, said he received the letter announcing the establishment of the Polytechnic from the Federal Government and decided to locate it in Ile Oluji.

President Jonathan in the letter signed by the Honourable Minister of State and Supervising Minister for Education, Barr. Nyesom Nwike, said “the new institution is established to provide increased access to our teeming youths who are yearning for tertiary education and to provide skilled middle level manpower for national development.”

While justifying the choice of Ondo State, President Jonathan said “the establishment of the Polytechnic is informed by the fact that there is no Federal Polytechnic in Ondo State as is the case with some of its peers in the South West zone of the country. Governor Mimiko said the initiative is to him in fulfilment of the president’s promise to give Ondo State its dues in country. And a realization of his dream to have a befitting institution established for our State in Ile Oluji.

He enjoined the people to continue to support the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan’s administration for its love and kindness to the State. It will be recalled that a false rumour of a polytechnic allegedly rejected by Ile Oluji led to a communal crisis not long ago. Governor Mimiko said he hopes that the siting of the Federal
Polytechnic will put to rest all acrimony and ill will in the community and the local government at large.
The approved polytechnic comes with a N1billion take-off grant from the federal government.

In his words of appreciation, the Jegun of Ile Oluji, Oba Stephen Adedugbe, thanked President Jonathan for the honour done to Ondo State and Governor Mimiko for deciding Ile Oluji as the host community.
He said the people of Ile Oluji will be eternally grateful to the duo for finally bringing to reality the dream of all Ile Oluji citizens. Youths, women and chiefs were seen dancing around the town as at press time.
