Igbinedion Varsity gets COREN’S full accreditation for Petroleum Engineering

The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, has granted full accreditation to the Petroleum Engineering programme of Igbinedion University Okada, following the university’s success in the accreditation exercise conducted in May 2012. The Council communicated the good news to the Vice Chancellor in a letter dated 29th June 2012 and signed by the Registrar, Engr. Felix Atume.

The accreditation is valid for five years, and takes effect from May 2012. The accreditation of Petroleum Engineering, which is the youngest programme in the General Abdulsalami Abubakar College of Engineering, completes the cycle of full accreditation for all engineering programmes in the university. The other programmes, namely, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering and Mechanical Engineering had earlier obtained full accreditation in 2009 and 2010.

Engineering programmes in Igbinedion University are highly rated nationally and globally. The General Abdulsalami Abubakar College of Engineering has produced high quality graduates since 2007, and students and staff of the College have won several distinguished national and international awards.
