IDPIL Scholarships & Bursaries 2024: Financial Support for Students

The IDPIL Scholarship/Bursary Scheme is an initiative launched by the Ikorodu Division Peace Initiative Limited (IDPIL), aimed at supporting students in achieving their academic dreams. With a generous N30 million scholarship and bursary fund, the programme ensures access to quality education for both indigenes and residents of the Ikorodu Division studying at public tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

Purpose of the IDPIL Scholarship/Bursary Scheme

This scheme is rooted in two core objectives:

  1. Promoting Quality Education: Establishing a hub for human resources development, fostering academic excellence, and nurturing talent within the Ikorodu Division.
  2. Supporting Financially Challenged Students: Helping students whose families have faced economic hardship, particularly in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, enabling them to continue their education.

Scholarship/Bursary Categories

The IDPIL Scholarship/Bursary Scheme is divided into three categories:

1. Scholarship Scheme

  • Award: An annual grant of N200,000 for the entire duration of the student’s programme.
  • Eligibility: Open to indigenes and residents of Ikorodu Division with outstanding academic performance. Candidates undergo an aptitude test and oral interview.

2. Bursary 1

  • Award: A one-time payment of N100,000 for one academic session.
  • Eligibility: Open to indigenes and residents with good academic standing. No aptitude test is required.

3. Bursary 2

  • Award: A one-time payment of N50,000 for one academic session.
  • Eligibility: Reserved for financially disadvantaged indigenes. Academic performance requirements are relaxed, requiring only a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of at least 2.5 or lower credit.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the IDPIL Scholarship/Bursary Scheme, applicants must:

  1. Be enrolled as full-time students at a public tertiary institution in Nigeria.
  2. Be in their second year (200 Level) or higher with a verifiable CGPA.
  3. Provide proof of indigeneship and residence through an identification letter from a recognised traditional ruler and a LASSRA card.
  4. Submit an academic profile signed by the university registrar or head of department.
  5. Apply to only one category to avoid disqualification.

Application Process

Each category has specific requirements:

  • Scholarship Scheme: A minimum CGPA of 4.5 (First Class) for universities or Distinction for polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of education. Applicants must pass a background check, aptitude test, and oral interview.
  • Bursary 1: Requires a CGPA of at least 3.5 (Second Class Upper) for universities or Upper Credit for other institutions.
  • Bursary 2: Specifically for financially disadvantaged indigenes with a CGPA of at least 2.5 or lower credit. A background check is conducted.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

  1. An academic profile signed by the university registrar or head of department.
  2. An identification letter from a recognised traditional ruler (for indigenes).
  3. Proof of residence through the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASSRA) card.
  4. Any other supporting documentation.
