The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has lifted the suspension earlier placed on the institution’s Students’ Union Government. This was contained in a statement issued by the institution’s Registrar, Mrs. Modupe Fawale, in Ibadan on Monday, January 9.
According to the registrar, the reversal of the suspension order was based on interventions that will allow for further consultations.
It added that the management will be holding meetings with the leadership of the students to address their perceived grievances.
Fawale, however, noted that the first-semester examination, scheduled to commence on Jan. 9, remained postponed and a new date for the commencement of the examination will be announced to the students through appropriate channels.
Recall that the school management had announced an increment in the fee to be paid by students for refusing to stay in their hostel-allocated spaces. This eventually led to a protest by the aggrieved students and the suspension of the student union government. Read here.
