In an effort to boost youth entrepreneurship, the International Breweries Foundation, an affiliate of the International Breweries Plc and part of the AB InBev Group, is launching its latest initiative: Kickstart. The programme is devoted to fostering enterprise growth and development for young entrepreneurs, providing them with training, access to capital through grants, and mentorship.
Kickstart has made its mark across several countries in Africa as part of the Africa Zone initiative by the AB InBev Group, boasting successful implementations in South Africa, Botswana, Lesotho, Swaziland, and Tanzania. First introduced in Nigeria in 2016, Kickstart has executed three successful editions in the South West and South East regions. As of 2019, it has expanded to a national level, encompassing all six geo-political zones of Nigeria.
The Programme’s Objective
The core objective of Kickstart is to stimulate and facilitate the growth of youth-owned businesses. By providing entrepreneurs with essential training, funding, and mentorship, the programme aims to unleash a new wave of innovators ready to take on the business world.
The Application Process
Participation in Kickstart is open to aspiring awardees who meet specific criteria. Prospective applicants must complete and submit an application form. Shortlisting will be determined based on the following requirements:
- Age: Applicants should be between 18 and 35 years old.
- Communication: Proficiency in the English language is necessary for reading, writing, and speaking.
- Location: Applicants should reside in Nigeria, and their business operations should be based in the country.
- Business Areas: The business must be within the sectors of Agriculture (including Rice Farming, Maize Farming, Sorghum Farming), Circular Packaging, Retailing (of International Breweries Product), Renewable Energy, and Other sectors. Businesses must be within 0 to 3 years of establishment.
The deadline for application submission is Monday, July 24th, 2023.
