I would rather quit medicine than abandon shoe-making- UI medical student

22-year-old Goodness, an indigene of Ogun State, who doubles as a student and a shoe-maker, has revealed that she would rather quit the medical profession rather than abandon shoe-making, a craft she had grown to love over the years.

The 400-level Dentistry student of University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, said she ventured into making footwear as a hobby, but it has since transformed into a business entity that she hopes will grow into a global brand.

According to Goodness, she started making footwear in 2018 but was involved in a number of other creative activities like crocheting and bead making. She mentioned that her creative works are not affecting her medical studies, but she’ll probably abandon the medical school and pursue shoe-making because it will bring more money compared to the stipend they pay Doctors in Nigeria.

She also revealed how much she makes when business is good, saying that she doesn’t make less than N200, 000, and sometimes, it gets up to N300,000 in a month.
