I stole to raise money to feature Davido or Runtown in my music - FCE Akoka student

A 23-year-old Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka student, Dare Williams, has been arrested by the police for snatching a vehicle from a service driver on the night of Monday, 21 December.

Dare who was arrested alongside his 18-year-old friend Bethel Chukwuocha, said he committed the crime because he was desperate to feature either Davido or Runtown in his music. 

The duo reportedly snatched a Toyota Corolla car from the driver, Clement Aniegbe, armed with a kitchen knife after they ordered a ride from Lekki to Gbagada. The driver was then threatened with the weapon and sedatives to abandon the vehicle and his mobile phone.

Williams said his plan was to sell the vehicle for a million naira so he would raise the money he needed to advance his music career. He told reporters that he resorted to robbery after going around for help but got none.

Commissioner of Police (CP) Hakeem Odumosu, confirmed the incident and said the suspect was arrested on Tuesday, December 22.
