My name is Mr. Wilfred, honored as the First Online Student Consultant in Nigeria and I am here for you, and the rest of over one million prospective students of Higher Institutions who have registered for yet another UTME this year. Out of my over 3,000 educational related articles on the internet, this is the most aggressive and harsh of all. If parents and guardians are not tired of seeing their children and wards fail and re-sit JAMB every year, I am!
Let me remind you why you failed the last JAMB you wrote. You did not fail because you were not told, you did because you were too lazy to act. And sorry to say this, you are close to failure again if you do not have a rethink right from that place you are sitting! To be a bit mild with you, I also blame your parents and secondary school teachers for not doing the right thing. Should incase you care to know, see Why you failed your last exam.
I could remember very well my first day, and of course that was also my last day of sitting for the Join Admission and Matriculation Board Exam now known as Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Honestly I did not score 400%, but lucky are you if you can get the score I got then, you won't re-sit for JAMB after this I bet you.
Passing JAMB examinations is about the easiest thing on earth. People don't just go about it the right way. A lot of "Thomases" will doubt me, but I will clear them (you, if you are doubting already). If I may ask, why must someone fail an examination whose scope of questions, schemes covered, likely examination questions, etc has been revealed? Why must YOU fail to score at least 60 per cent of the total marks? And mind you, 70% of the total JAMB score is 280.
The purpose of this write up is not to criticize those who failed the examination in the past, but to make sure you write it once and for all this time. I assure you, passing this year's UTME is as easy as passing all other exams you have written and passed in the pasts. I'm afraid there are no secrets in passing this UTME, hardwork is going to be the essential part of my guide. Permit me to proceed, but before that below are ways SchoolGist can help you secure admission:

Now let's continue...Follow these tips and you will make a difference this year. Ignore them and blame no one for your failure!
Study with Purpose: It is very worthy of note that you cannot pass this year's JAMB by doing nothing. But what to do and how much to do might make all the difference. This varies in accordance with your own level of commitment, the examination condition and how difficult the subjects are. Working with purpose is focusing on your examination subjects, and not only discovering question patterns but answering them, finding out how they are tackled and solved in lesser time interval. Don't go about reading newspapers in preparation for the use of English, it is late! Read with target.
What score grade do you want?: The guy who scored 200 passed jamb, and so does the dude that got 280. But who is at a more advantage? I will leave you to judge. Fix your score margin and work towards it.
You see, even if your intention is to simply pass the exam, you should never (and I mean never) study for that goal. If you aim that low, chances are that you may land even lower but if you were to aim a little bit higher than if you fall, you’ll still pass the exam! There’s an old Swedish Proverb that says: “Aim for the stars and you’ll hit the forest”.
Set Priorities and get material: Failing to plan is as good as planning to fail. A little ( in time and resources) spent trying to get what you want is worth more than the stress of gathering those things. Get JAMB past questions (from any nearest bookshop) and read hard. “If you don’t have time to do it right you must have time to do it over.”
Leave facebook, 2go, watsapp, BBM, etc alone!
An average Nigerian youth nowadays spend about 7 hours on facebook and 2go everyday, with some outliers spending a minimum of 10 hours daily. Now consider what happens if this time could be channeled to studying. My analysis on the 2012 UTME result published on SchoolGist revealed that those who spend much time on these mobile chats caused the increase in the number of failures in various examinations taken in the country in the recent couple of years.
It is a fact that that the increasing number of social networks and chat applications in the country has an adverse effect on academic performances of the students. If you must pass this year's UTME, minimize your presence in the deceptive social networks!
Exam Center Issues: Make sure you know your center few days before the exam date. If your center is far from your residence, be there a day before to avoid delays in traffic on the morning of the exams.
Materials and Gadgets: Stick to instructions from JAMB. Keep your phones and programmable calculators at home so that they don't get you into the problem list. Reprint your photo card if you don't have any. Avoid all avoidable frustrations.
In the exam hall: Don't borrow, don't copy, don't be dull. Believe in what you know, the person next to you might not know anything. Focus on your work and start from questions you know well. Be smart, and time conscious. Above all, make sure you shade properly, otherwise don't expect result.
