The House of Representatives today directed the Federal Ministry of Education to cut the cost of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) application forms by 50%.
AAlso in a similar development, the House members equally asked the Federal Ministry of Education to equally ensure that the cost of other services like Change of Course and institution form be either free or at least just N500.
According to James Faleke (APC, Lagos) the proponent of the motion, JAMB has become a profit making venture to the detriment of educational and social development of the country.
He reminded the parliament that JAMB as a government agency is not set up for profit making but to promote educational development of the young citizens in pursuit of their professional careers.
At the end, the house mandated its committee on basic education to ensure compliance and report back in two weeks.
