The National Association of Polytechnic Students observed with dismay that polytechnic graduates in Nigeria have become people who cannot be reckoned with when it comes to the presentation of certificates in the labour market.
It is sad that there is a clear and huge difference between HND and B.Sc holders when it comes to seeking employment, which is not supposed to be in Nigeria.
The bias is extended to the Master’s level where HND holders have to go for a PGD before proceeding for a Master’s degree programme. This has caused a lot of havoc in the way most companies look down on HND holders. It’s saddening that the government and educationists alike make it tougher for HND holders to apply for better positions in any business organizations because of unresolved bias at the higher level.
Those concerned should not let the efforts of polytechnic graduates be in vain by underrating their certificates.
