Gunmen have abducted the Registrar, Federal Polytecnic, Ekowe, Bayelsa State, Mr. Apelebiri Walabo.
Walabo’s abduction reportedly took place along the Asaba-Agbor highway in Delta State last week.
The 57-year-old registrar was returning from Abuja where he had gone for an official assignment when the incident took place.
A family source, who craved anonymity, said the kidnappers had yet to establish communication with the family.
The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Hilary Opara, who confirmed the incident, however, said the crime did take place within his jurisdiction.

Meanwhile, the authorities of the Kwara State University, Malete, have appointed Mr. Surajudeen Oyebode as the new registrar of the institution.
According to a statement by the institution’s Principal Information/Protocol Officer, Alhaja Hamidat Sulyman-Yusuf, on Monday, Oyebode succeeds Mrs. Modupe Akinrinmade.
Akinrinmade’s tenure expired on January 31.
Until his appointment, Oyebode was the Deputy Registrar, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
The new registrar, who hails from Offa, is a member of the Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators.
