FUPRE Appoints Professor Damisa as New Deputy Vice Chancellor

The Senate of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 elected Professor Olatunde Damisa as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor and subsequently confirmed by the Governing Council of the University.

Professor Damisa was until April 2013 the Dean, College of Technology. He hails from Edo State and holds a 1981 Imperial College (University of London) Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mechanical Engineering; Imperial College, Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1977 and a University of Lagos, Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1973.

Professor Damisa later had a stint with Anglo-Dutch SHELL Company between 1975 and 1977. He joined the services of the University of Lagos as Assistant Lecturer in 1977 from where he went to Imperial College for his Master of Science and Doctoral degrees.

Between 1995 and 1997 Professor Olatunde Damisa was appointed Commissioner for Works and Housing in Edo State.

He joined Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun in May 2011 and rose to the rank of a Professor in same 2011. He was subsequently appointed the Dean, College of Technology in November 2011, a position he held till April 2013.

Professor Olatunde Damisa is happily married with children.
