‘Funding of Tertiary Education Should not be Left for Govts Alone’:
The Proprietor of Eruku Polytechnics, Eruku, Kwara State, Mr. Joel Sule, says funding of tertiary education in the country should not be left for governments alone.
He, therefore, called on the private sector and corporate organisations to support the funding of the nation’s tertiary education.
He spoke on Saturday during the foundation laying ceremony of the polytechnic in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area. Academic activities are to commence in the polytechnic in September 2014.
He said, “The funding of educational institutions in the country cannot be left to government alone, hence the need for private driven sector to complement government’s efforts in this regard.

“Actually, I got the inspiration to set up the school a long time ago, but I did not attach much importance to it until recently. So, I want to disabuse the minds of people who may think that the vision is for money making.
“You will all agree with me that the establishment of any tertiary institution is capital intensive and this one is not an exception, as it is going to gulp not less than N2bn to make it compete favourably with any other polytechnic in the world”.
Earlier, Owa of Eruku, Oba Busari Olarewaju, said the coming of the polytechnic was timely, adding that it would assist youngsters seeking admission to tertiary institutions in the country.
