FUNAAB VC insists on January 18 resumption

The vice-chancellor of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Prof. Felix Salako, has said that it would resume academic activities on Jan. 18, despite the institution's earlier stance on universities not being ready to cope with the challenges posed by COVID-19.

Salako disclosed this while addressing a press conference, in Abeokuta, dismissing claims earlier made by the ASUU Chairman in the institution, Dr. Adebayo Oni, who had said physical lectures with students would be disastrous citing the rise in COVID-19 cases.

The vice-chancellor maintained that FUNAAB was ready to fully resume for in-person activities, as measures had been put in place, including COVID-19 protocols as stipulated by the Federal Government. He described claims made by Oni as false and mischievous, stating that the university had been fumigated more than 10 times since March 2020.
