The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Oyewole, has advocated peaceful co-existence, industrial harmony and mutual relationship between the Management of Universities and Staff Unions.
The Vice-Chancellor made the remark when national officers of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU), led by its General Secretary, Comrade Peters Adeyemi, paid him a courtesy call.
The NASU national officers were in the University to commission the new FUNAAB Branch Union secretariat, Official Vehicle, as well as the foundation laying of the Shopping Mall.
The Vice-Chancellor commended the FUNAAB Executives, for their co-operation and support towards making the institution a world-class University, as he called for increased co-operation, commitment and quality of service by members of staff.
He highlighted some of the projects embarked upon by the University Management to include the construction of 1,000-Seater Lecture Theatre, Science Laboratories, Entrepreneurship Centre, ICT Building and the newly-completed 2,500-Seater Auditorium for University’s ceremonies.
Delivering a lecture titled, NASU: Its Vision, Mission and Tradition, the Union’s General Secretary, Comrade Peters Adeyemi, commended and appreciated the Vice-Chancellor, for mediating and resolving the internal wranglings of the Union and expressed hope for a continued and sustained cordial relationship between the Union and Management.
The FUNAAB-NASU Chairman, Comrade Olajide Odunjo, showered encomiums on the University Management, as he highlighted some of his achievements to include computerisation of financial records of the Union, printing of annual calendar for the first time, construction of Union secretariat and purchase of Union official vehicle.
Highlight of the ceremony was the commissioning of the Comrade Peters Adeyemi NASU Secretariat, Official Vehicle and foundation laying of a shopping mall. Dignitaries present at the event included FUNAAB’s Principal Officers; Principal Officers of Ogun State NASU; Chairman, Comrade Femi Soetan; Deputy National President, Comrade Adenekan and State Secretary, Comrade Alafiatayo, among others.
