The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has produced another Registrar; this time around for Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State. He is Mr. Akinlabi, Peter Tale.
Until his appointment, he was the Secretary, Post Graduate School, of the University.
With his appointment, the University has now produced and “donated” six veteran and seasoned top echelon of its vibrant and virile Registry staff to other tertiary institutions as Registrars.
They are: Mr. E. A. Lawale, Registrar, Bowen University; Mr. E. O. Okoro, Registrar, Igbinedion University, Okada, Edo State; Mrs. Oluwayemisi Gbadebo, Registrar, Bells University, Ota, Ogun State; Dr. (Mrs.) L. O. Onwuka, immediate past Registrar, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Delta State, Mr. Adeleke Adeboye, Registrar, Samuel Adegboyega University, Edo State and the latest, Mr. P. T. Akinlabi, Registrar, Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State.
News of the appointment of Mr. Akinlabi came through a Public Service announcements, on Ondo State Broadcasting Corporation (Radio and Television Stations) and it rented the airwaves for 48 hours, prompting many well wishers to storm the mobile phone line of the appointee with congratulatory messages.
FUNAAB Bulletin reliably gathered that the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole was among the first set of well wishers to congratulate Mr. Akinlabi, while several other members of the University Community followed suit.
It is expected that the Management will formally felicitate with Mr. Akinlabi soon.
Born in Owo, Ondo State in 22nd February, 1957; Mr. Akinlabi attended the famous Imade College, Owo and St. John/Mary’s Teachers Training College, also in Owo.
His academic foray witnessed a progression in 1984 when he graduated with 2nd Class Upper Division, B.Sc (Hons.) Sociology, University of Calabar and thereafter obtained a Master Degree in Population Studies from University of Ghana, Legon, Ghana in 1986.
He started his career in the civil service from his home town, Owo where he rose from Administrative Officer II/Assistant Student Affairs Officer to Senior Administrative Assistant to the Rector.
Coming to UNAAB now FUNAAB, the soft spoken Mr. Akinlabi progressed from Senior Assistant Registrar in 1997 to Deputy Registrar and Secretary to the University Postgraduate School, until his appointment.
A member of many professional bodies, including Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Institute of Personnel Management of Nigeria (IPMN); Mr. Akinlabi is happily married and blessed with children.
