The Chapel of Grace, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on Wednesday, held its 20th Annual Christmas Carol with the theme, “He came to set the captives free”.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole read the fifth Lesson, taken from the Book of John Chapter 1 vs. 1-3 and 14.
In his address, the University Chaplain, Professor Christian Ikeobi reminisced on the first Christmas Carol held at then FUNAAB’s Isale-Igbein campus in 1993 where the former Vice-Chancellor and the present National Universities Commission (NUC), Executive Secretary, Professor Julius Okojie was the Anchorman and the Chairman, Organizing Committee.
According to him, “when you serve the Lord, the Lord serves you”, adding that “He catapults you to honour and grace”.
He stated that his daughter who was eight months old during the 1st Carol was among the Chorister at the 20th Carol Service, stressing that she is also a final year student of the University.
In his homily, the Shepherd in charge of Finger of God Church, Lagos, Bishop Kayode Peller, who is the son of the late famous Nigerian Magician, Professor Peller said that as a student of magic, he was into lies, falsehood and occultism.
Bishop Peller described magic as an act of illusion, adding that it is make believe.
He, however, chided the worshippers not to look for secret power anywhere, adding that the grace of God is sufficient to set them free.
Meanwhile, the 20th Christmas Carol Committee was Chaired by the HOD, Agricultural Economics and Farm Management (AEFM), Professor Adewale Dipeolu.
