The two programmes were approved at the floor of Senate following brilliant presentations made by two eminent scholars, Professor Ozovehe Mike Ogirima, a Professor of Medicine from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Professor Abdullateef O. Onundi, a Professor of Engineering from the University of Maiduguri, who were invited on Sabbatical to co-ordinate and anchor the two programmes for the University.
In his address entitled “IT IS TIME TO JOIN THE LEAGUE OF MATURE UNIVERSITIES,” the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olayemi Akinwumi informed Senate that majority of his February to May agenda (tasks, decisions and actions) have been implemented, while those not implemented yet were ongoing. Similarly, the Vice-Chancellor’s 5-year Action Plan, which was earlier circulated to all Senate Members and relevant stakeholders for their input, was finally presented and adopted by FUL Senate at the special meeting in order to kick-start the vision of moving the University to enviable heights.
Professor Akinwumi specially thanked the two erudite professors for accepting to undertake the all-important assignments they have been saddled with for the greater benefit of the University, Kogi State and Nigeria in general.
Earlier during the meeting, Members of the Presidential Visitation Panel (PVP) led by His Excellency, Ambassador Godknows Igali, who were in the University on a second visit since the commencement of their assignment, had a brief session with Members of Senate, while the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Center (FMC), Lokoja, Dr. Olatunde Alabi and his medical team equally graced the occasion and made valuable contributions.
