The matriculating students of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), numbering 3,708, have been warned to desist from violating rules and regulations or face wrath of the institution.
The warning was handed to the students by the Vice-Chancellor of FULafia, Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman.
The occasion was the 2019/2020 Matriculation Ceremony of the University and the venue was the Mallam Adamu Adamu Lecture and Offices Complex, Permanent Site Campus, Lafia.
According to the vice-chancellor, the management of the University would not hesitate to wield the big stick against any students found wanting or engaging themselves in indiscipline behaviours.

The vice-chancellor said: “We have zero tolerance for any form of misconduct and we will not hesitate to sanction unpleasant behaviours. I further implore you to show respect to your colleagues and staff in the University to make your stay fruitful and productive. Be modest and decent in your dressing and approach to issues and adhere strictly to the rules and regulations enshrined in the students handbook.”
Prof Abdul Rahman assured the new students that the University, as a centre for learning, research and innovation for positive socio-economic transformation of the nation, was committed to training the students to become expert in their chosen field of study.
He called on the students to reciprocate that gesture by adhering to the norms, values and ethical standards existing in the University.
The vice-chancellor, while assuring the students of adequate security in the two campuses, urged parents/guardians to work with the institution to inculcate the vision and mission of FULafia in its students.
“The University will continue to focus on its core purpose which is to change Nigeria for good,” he said, adding: “this, we hope to achieve by instilling the vision and mission of this great institution in our dear students.”
