Four students of the University of Port Harcourt, who were kidnapped last weekend while returning from the Ahoada area of Rivers State where they had gone to conduct a vegetation sampling for their final year projects, have regained their freedom.
The students identified as Gbaa Nenubari, Asumbo Elizabeth, Eze Chimezie, and Onosigho Augustine escaped from the kidnappers on Wednesday, Jan 19 morning when a team of security operatives invaded the hideout with heavy firepower and engaged the kidnappers.
The university's spokesperson for the university, Sam Kpenu, while confirming the release of the four victims, disclosed that they had since reunited with their families.
