As Fountain University celebrates its third convocation in grand style, 150 students have joined its teeming alumni. According to a document released by the Registrar, ten (10) of the students are First Class products, 51 Second Class Upper Division, 65 Second Class Lower Division and 24 Third Class grade.
Congratulating the University, the graduands and their parents, the Pro-Chancellor, Prof. Nurudeen Adedipe, in his address, assured the students of improved infrastructural facility in the university as he charged the Federal Government to support private universities from the wealth purse of the nation in as much they contribute immensely to the nation’s educational achievements and developments around a decade ago.
Meanwhile, Prof. Bashir Ademola Raji while addressing the convocation reiterated that the university is strongly consolidating its foundation for the provision of up-to-date research based university education.
He mentioned, among other efforts geared towards this, the newly commissioned Amina Namadi Sambo Multi-purpose Hall, the new 200KVA generator for uninterrupted power supply in the hostels, the new Adegunwa Hostel to take care of the increasing population of the school and a Student Social Centre whose construction would commence soon. He also identified the University’s research potential in the area of novel pharmacy among others.
Also speaking at the occasion was NASFAT President worldwide, Alh. Sheriff who disclosed that NASFAT, the proprietor of the University “is mow committed to its development than ever before” announced the proprietor’s readiness to commence the construction of a world class College of Natural and Applied Sciences. He said that the architectural design and all other resources were ready for the execution of the project to commence soon.
In this year’s convocation, a graduand of the Physics Department, Aderibigbe Azeez Adeteju emerged the Best Graduating Student as Agiri Hamzat Ayodeji of Economics Department was honoured the Best Behaved Student of the 2013/2014 Graduating Set. There were also many other best student prizes from the various departments and colleges of the University to encourage the spirit of scholarship and competition among the students.
The occasion was graced by many bigwigs in the academia and political class of State of Osun and Nigeria at large. These include the Wife of the Vice –President of the Federation, Hajia Amina Namadi Sambo, the donor of an ultra-modern multi-purpose hall ably represented by the Deputy Governor of State of Osun, Chief Titi Laoye Tomori.
