Former cattle rearer cum-lecturer shares his story

A Nigerian man, Adamu Dauda Garba, has shared the story of how he became a university lecturer years after taking to cattle rearing as a means of livelihood in his village. He disclosed that during his childhood, he always trekked far distances to school, and in the evening, he would tend to the cows in the bushes.

According to Adamu, he sat for the West African Examination Council (WAEC) with the aid of his family members who were very particular about education. Immediately he passed the examination, he preceded to the Taraba State College Education, Jalingo, and got his NCE.

After his NCE, Adamu revealed that he had to work as a security guard at the Federal University, Wukari before he eventually gained admission to study sociology in the same institution.

Adamu who is now a lecturer at one of the tertiary institutions in Nigeria revealed that he still has some cattle in his village which he is tending to.
