The building of the National Open University of Nigeria (noun), in Dutse, Jigawa State, was engulfed in fire in the early hours of Saturday, November 12.
It was gathered that the fire which had raged for over an hour, destroyed office furniture and other valuable items before the state fire service and other security agencies put it out.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps NSCDC, Adamu Shehu said the inferno had gutted the NOUN office which is on the fourth floor of the Federal secretariat in Dutse.
He added that the cause of the fire was unknown and investigation into the fire outbreak was ongoing.
